School Motto:

      Learn for Better Self, Think for Better Life 学为日进,人为日省

 

 

Mission:

      We integrate the best of eastern and western educational philosophy and practices. On the backdrop of educational reforms in China, we strive to seize the opportunity of the age to create a Chinese-English bilingual education that meets the developmental needs of every child, that lays a solid foundation for their life-long learning, and that builds a competitive edge and collaborative abilities for their future lives. The teaching and learning in our schools is characterized by four main features including quality, integration, diverse, and caring. 

 

      To this end, we identify and utilize high quality educational resources locally, nationally, and internationally, create and provide every child with a rigorous bilingual curriculum that is focused, systematic, multi-cultural, and full of options. We require and support each staff member to uphold the highest professional standards when they work with children and when they develop as professionals and leaders.     

 

We stick to a student-oriented approach, and aim to cultivate world citizens with originality, global perspective, and Chinese traditions. Students of ECNUAS will be:

 

Successful Learners: active and life-long learners with critical thinking ability, acute awareness for problem solving, and skills for integrating information.

 

Confident and Creative Leaders: confident, optimistic leaders who are willing to confront challenges. Problem solvers who actively integrate available resources and demonstrate communicative skills and leadership potential.

 

Understanding and responsible citizens: world citizens with global perspective, intercultural understanding, social responsibility and a strong sense of justice.

 

Well-rounded individuals: versatile people with adaptability and balance who excel at both intellectual pursuits and athletic and artistic fields.  

 

ECNUAS learners will demonstrate three domains of attributes  

  

        Inquirer, Thinker, Knowledgeable, Reflective     (Ways of learning 为学)

        Caring, Respectful, Communicator, Balanced     (Ways of being为人)

        Open-minded, Risker-taker, Principled, Resilient  (Ways of doing为事)

 

These learner attributes include the ten IB Learner Attributes and incorporate characteristics of Chinese education and ECNUAS education. The three domains represent aspects of a holistic education that develops well-rounded learners. Aligning with the approach to the IB Learner Profile, these learner attributes are also interpreted as the Mission of the school in action. They are closely connected with the curriculum and all educational activities in the school.
