Visit by delegation from Alathena International AcademyOn June 4, Canada’s Alathena International Academy (AIA) visited SABS to advance collaboration on a joint Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) Program Center.As an Ontario Ministry of Education-certified institution, AIA will deliver its standardized OSSD curriculum through the AIA Cloud Platform, enabling SABS students to earn Ontario high school credits and access Canadian university pathways. The program features a tri-faculty model with certified Canadian teachers providing online instruction and Chinese academic supervisors offering on-site support, culminating in dual-issued OSSD diplomas recognized by universities across 165 countries.This partnership establishes an innovative global access without leaving home pathway for SABS learners.

High School Chasing Light Drama FestivalOn June6, the High School Chasing Light Drama Festival brought us a wonderful cultural feast. Under the spotlight, the students sincerely interpreted their inner voices and defined their roles. The innovative plot interpretation, delicate costume and design, and professional coordination of stage lighting and musicleft a deep impression on the audience.The adaptation of ‘Romance in the Rain’ allowed the audience to see the reflections of the new generation of young people on love and marriage; the classic play ‘King Lear’ made us reflect on the alienation of power and family ties; the English play “Friends” made its debut on stage, with a complete plot and vivid performances; ‘The First House of Beijing Duck’ received continuous applause, with countless highlights.This event not only served as a platform for students to showcase their holistic competencies but also injected renewed vitality into campus arts education.

Art Exhibition (KG)Last week, SABK unveiled its Masters Meet Imagination exhibition, featuring 13 artworks where young creators reimagined classics by Van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama, and Gaudí. Through collages, prints, and clay sculptures, children transformed abstract art into vibrant microcosms from their unique perspectives.Highlights included K3A’s crayon Starry Night with smiling constellations, K2C’s foam-print Huizhou architecture hiding whimsical stories, and K3D’s Polka Dot Pumpkin celebrating Kusama’s iconic style. Pieces also reflected social themes: K1A deconstructed community roles with geometric shapes, K2B mirrored ancient landscapes through symmetrical prints, while K3 collaboratively painted a Hockney-inspired pastoral scroll.More than tribute to masters, this exhibition ignited children’s deeper connection with nature, culture, and society – proving creativity makes timeless art flourish anew.

Kindergarten student-led conferenceFrom June 4th to 6th, SABK invited parents to witness children’s growth through student-led conferences. Young learners acted as event hosts, showcasing their daily progress in life skills, math, English, reading, and thematic activities via portfolios, role-plays, and interactive games.In the Early Childhood classes, parent-child teams collaborated through role-playing and crafts, emphasizing joyful co-learning. Senior class students independently designed and confidently presented conference agendas, impressing families with their clear logic and creativity.Teachers and parents alike marveled at the children’s pride-inspiring performance—their self-assured communication, innovative thinking, and exploratory spirit perfectly embody the spirit of a PYP kindergarten.

SABS Achieves Outstanding Results in English Speaking FinalsGood news: SABS achieved outstanding results in the Shanghai Final Selection of the ‘World Youth Communication Programme’ — 2025 Hope Star and Outlook English Speech Competition. SABK Dual-Festival CarnivalOn May 30, SABK held a carnival blending Children’s Day fun with Dragon Boat traditions.Eight activity stations engaged children: Pre-K learners explored under teacher guidance, while older children navigated independently.At cultural zones, young folk detectives struck five poisonous insects to learn traditional wisdom, floated dragon boats to understand buoyancy, and crafted wishing bracelets while discovering the custom of discarding them in rain to ward off woes.Games like land dragon boat races and treasure fishing fostered teamwork and joy.
